Stability is being able to provide for yourself and your family
In addition to creating an affordable alternative to buying new products, the Good Samaritan Ministries Thrift Store provides opportunities for job and vocational training and volunteering.
Our on-the-job training offers employees the opportunity to feel a sense of accomplishment while working in a positive, supportive environment. At Good Samaritan Ministries, we believe that everyone, given the opportunity, can share their talents.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Many of our employees started as vocational trainees. We work with various agencies including Job Training Partnership, RSVP, and the State Vocational-Rehab office. Our structured work environment helps individuals uncover their hidden talents, build self-esteem, and prepares them to move on to other positions in the community.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
We accept volunteers from all walks of life who are looking for ways to give back. We also welcome those with volunteer requirements from Helena Housing Authority, Salvation Army, Career Training Institute, and the Helena Pre-Release Center.
Thank you to our volunteers across the community, including those from local churches, Helena School District, Carroll College, the Montana Youth Challenge, and more.
Please download our volunteer application, drop it off in-person in our thrift store or email it to [email protected].
VIRTUS TRAINING
Virtus, or “safe environment training,” is a program instituted to prevent child sexual abuse in churches and other religious organizations. For risk management, this is a standard for effective protocols, procedures, and methods for preventing and responding to risk. This standard requires an organization to demand and enforce “no tolerance” for wrongdoing and open communication channels with employees, volunteers, and others who interact with the organization.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 16 years of age
- Must pass a background check
- If 18 or older, must complete Virtus Training – a 45-minute video course on maintaining a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults.
- Must review and sign the Diocese of Helena’s Safe Environment Policy
BACKGROUND CHECK:
Applicants with the following charges will not be accepted:
- Individuals with a burglary or theft charge less than 3 years old
