As Good Samaritan works to expand its volunteer program, watch for upcoming Street Outreach volunteer opportunities.
As a potential volunteer, you'll need to fill out an application online or on paper.
For those 18 or older, a background check and Virtus safe-environment training is required.
Virtus training is a 45 minute video course about maintaining a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults.
Once the background check clears, we'll have you come in and meet with one of our staff to go over your role. Then you are ready to begin!
In our Thrift Store program, you can come in and volunteer anytime the store is open Mon-Fri 9am-7pm.
Once onboarded, we do require a clock-in/out to track volunteer hours, but you'll have the flexibility and freedom to come help when you're able.
If you have a general schedule that you're available, knowing that will help us plan our work.
Our Place and Street Outreach have a tighter schedule, but we can coordinate to see what might work best for your time.
We welcome groups and have a separate group volunteer application. Get in touch and we will find a project that fits your size and schedule.
Generally, volunteers must be 16 or older. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a Virtus trained adult.
If you are volunteering as a group with youth under 16 years of age, we require a ratio of one adult supervisor for every five youth.
